چکیده

The feasibility of shell-model calculations is radically extended by the Quantum Monte Carlo Diagonalization method with various essential improvements. The major improvements are made in the sampling for the generation of shell-model basis vectors, and in the restoration of symmetries such as angular momentum and isospin. Consequently the level structure of low-lying states can be studied with realistic interactions. After testing this method on 24Mg, we present first results for energy levels and E2 properties of 64Ge, indicating its large and γ-soft deformation. Shell Model Monte Carlo method in the -formalism

The Shell model Monte Carlo (SMMC) method [1] was developed as an alternative to direct diagonalization in order to study low-energy nuclear properties. It was successfully applied to nuclear problems where large model spaces made diagonalization impractical. One calculates the thermal canonical expectation values of observables of few-body operators by representing the imaginary-time many-body...

O ct 1 99 9 Particle - Number Reprojection in the Shell Model Monte Carlo Method : Application to Nuclear Level Densities

We introduce a particle-number reprojection method in the shell model Monte Carlo that enables the calculation of observables for a series of nuclei using a Monte Carlo sampling for a single nucleus. The method is used to calculate nuclear level densities in the complete (pf + g9/2)-shell using a good-sign Hamiltonian. Level densities of odd-A and odd-odd nuclei are reliably extracted despite a...

Exact diagonalization and Quantum Monte Carlo studies of quantum dots

We report exact diagonalization and diffusion quantum Monte Carlo calculations of quantum dots (QDs) in which energetics due to electron-electron interactions, magnetic field, and geometrical factors compete and induce interesting ground state configurations. The geometrical effects are generated by different confining potentials such as parabolic shaped, ring shaped, and disordered potentials....

Statistical Properties of Nuclei by the Shell Model Monte Carlo Method

We use quantum Monte Carlo methods in the framework of the interacting nuclear shell model to calculate the statistical properties of nuclei at finite temperature and/or excitation energies. With this approach we can carry out realistic calculations in much larger configuration spaces than are possible by conventional methods. A major application of the methods has been the microscopic calculat...

The shell-model Monte Carlo (SMMC) technique transforms the traditional nuclear shell-model problem into a path-integral over auxiliary fields. We describe below the method and its applications to four physics issues: calculations of sd-pf-shell nuclei, a discussion of electron-capture rates in pf-shell nuclei, exploration of pairing correlations in unstable nuclei, and level densities in rare ...
